The spa, beauty and wellness industry is about people. Ask anyone who runs an award-winning spa and they will tell you that they would be nothing without their teams, the people who make the guest experience what it is. And yet, our industry struggles with high turnover and the challenge of finding talent to fill available roles.
This is one of the reasons that Spa Connectors is launching the Hall of Wellness Awards (HOW). Independently, we nurture talent in our own unique ways within our spas, salons and wellness facilities, but we don’t always celebrate and recognize our talent in the way that they deserve. The Hall of Wellness Awards will recognise the extraordinary individuals who are the lifeblood of our businesses, while simultaneously elevating the industry and highlighting spa and wellness as a great area in which to work, one that offers amazing opportunities and values its people. Our goal is to bring the global spa, beauty and wellness industry to a world stage and to celebrate our people in an awards ceremony that is inclusive of all positions across all facets of the industry.
The HOW Awards opened up to self and peer nominations on July 1st and the winners will be announced on December 4, 2020, after four judging rounds. An esteemed panel of industry leaders is generously donating their time to serve as judges over the next few months, faced with the difficult task of choosing from among the best of the best.
Why is now the time for the Hall of Wellness Awards?
Like you, at Spa Connectors people are our focus. We are passionate about upskilling individuals and in supporting their journeys all the way, so that they may thrive in the wellness industry. And now, more than ever, the industry needs to show our support. Many people have lost their jobs, or are on leave without pay, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and are facing an uncertain future. This is a problem on a global scale – from Europe and Asia, to America and Australia. What better time to launch an award program that will keep spirits up and shine a light on those who deserve it?
The HOW Awards will also create scholarships and training opportunities. Funds raised through sponsorship will go back into the industry by providing training and education to support and elevate our talent. This training will keep our therapists motivated and employed, and offer them the chance to upskill that they might not have otherwise. You might be amazed at how far your dollars will go, depending on where you are in the world. A thousand dollars can pay to upskill 10 therapists in Bali, upskill a spa manager online, or give a therapist an international accreditation.
Our passion is the development of people, providing opportunities and growing the industry, and we believe that the Hall of Wellness Awards are the platform we need to do that.
Who can enter and who will win the Hall of Wellness Awards?
Who can enter the Awards and what do we want to see? Here are some key pieces of information about the Awards.
- The Hall of Wellness Awards are open to any individual in the global spa, beauty, and wellness industry.
- The awards are free to enter.
- You can nominate yourself or any deserving individual.
- There are many categories recognizing both global and regional stand outs, from spa directors and therapists, to students and rising stars.
- We are looking for people with passion and ambition, who are exceptional beyond the norm. People who have a special something. Maybe you have 20 years of schooling. Maybe you’re a famous massage therapist who has never had a day of formal training in your life. Whatever you do, you have that X Factor that makes you stand out from the rest of the crowd.
