YHI Spa at Meliá’s Hotel Paradisus Cancun is the place to find natural serenity, an oasis in a world of daily routines and chronic stress, where treatments are designed to restore body and soul.

Meliá was founded in 1956 in Palma de Mallorca (Spain) and is today the leading hotel company in Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean and the third largest hotel company in Europe. The Paradisus Cancun is one of Meliá Hotels International’s eight Mexico hotels, an all-inclusive luxury resort set in an idyllic location between the Nichupté Lagoon and the Caribbean Sea, with the finest views in the popular hotel zone.

Architecture inspired by 4,000 year-old Mayan culture

The hotel’s magnificent architecture is inspired by 4,000 year-old Mayan culture with five large, glass-roofed pyramids, making it one of the most iconic buildings in the area. Guests of the Paradisus Cancún are ideally positioned to enjoy all that Cancun has to offer, including stunning white sand beaches and the shimmering Caribbean Sea. Enjoy snorkeling, diving, and exploring the reef and cenotes or just sit back and pamper yourself. An upgrade to The Reserve at Paradisus Cancún takes the guest experience to an extraordinary level with access to private hotel areas, butler services, and more.

The country of the Aztecs and the Mayas offers visitors a variety of landscapes, cultures and experiences and Meliá offers everything to make the guest experience an unforgettable one.

Luis Ramirez, Melia’s Spa & Wellness Director for Mexico

Luis Ramirez is Melia’s Spa & Wellness Director for Mexico. He oversees six spas, including YHI Spa at Paradisus Cancun. Ramirez says that the Cancun spa has been very busy and he has seen a big uptick in business recently and an interest in wellness that surpasses that of pre-COVID days.

“I think the interest has grown,” he said. “Before COVID people were looking for ‘beauty wellness.’ It was more about facials and worrying about how they looked. Now, they are thinking about wellness and how important it is to feel good and to be in good shape. So, the demand is bigger than it was before.”

Book4Time spa management software

Ramirez has found using Book4Time spa management software to be helpful in meeting this growing need and maintaining an exceptional guest experience. The spa started using the software in January of 2020 and Ramirez says, “It’s been a great experience. Our previous system was really complicated. Making reservations and finding reports was a headache, and it’s really easy now. Even if we want information from a spa on the other side of the country, we can get this information in real time, at the same time for all the spas. Everything is easier. We can check full reservations for each property, we can decide what we need to improve, new staff can quickly learn the system and take advantage of it. It’s fantastic.”

Clean beauty that goes beyond lifestyle and becomes a philosophy

YHI SPA has taken the best of urban, holistic and day spas to offer traditional options. Ramirez says, “For those looking for a deep restorative session, we have a collection called ‘Ancient Oriental healing’ from our Filipino therapists that will restore your natural balance.”

He adds, “Our exclusive Sothys facial and body offerings add the concept of clean beauty that goes beyond a lifestyle and becomes a health philosophy that we have adopted not only for skin care, but also for the impact of its life cycle, from the extraction of the components, to production, distribution, use and final destination.”

Out of all the spa’s offerings, Ramirez says his favourite is the customized Clean Beauty Facial by Xamania. “These are exclusive to our Mexico spas,” he says. “They integrate natural elements and natural ingredients to restructure and clean your skin from the inside out. I really love these facials.”

Asked what he thinks makes a great guest experience, Ramirez says, “I think more than a service, people are looking for an emotional connection. They start looking for a facial or a massage but when the service begins with a connection with the therapist, this changes everything.”
