Aire Ancient Baths is opening a Chicago location later this month in the River West area.
Housed in a restored late-19th century factory, the Chicago location is Aire’s largest to date with 20,000 square feet. Rare Chicago referred to the design as “straight out of Game of Thrones.”
The restoration process has revealed the building’s original exposed brick, beams, and columns. And the space incorporates various historical elements such as 16th century stone fountains from Andalucia, white marble counter tops from old country houses in northeastern Spain, and clay amphoras from Tuscany.
The Ancient thermal experience includes a selection of pools including an ice pool (50ºF), cold pool (57ºF), warm pool (97ºF), hot pool (102ºF), the flotarium (a salt-water pool with the salt density of the Dead Sea) as well as the Propeller-Jet Bath (97ºF), two Steam Rooms with different steam levels and aromatherapy, and the Relaxation area, where you can rest on heated marble stones and enjoy a cup of tea or fresh fruit juice.
An indoor-outdoor bath in the Chicago location allows visitors to swim outside and enjoy the seasons while gazing at the Chicago sky.
The bath experience can be enhanced with a wide range of body treatments and rituals, all of which include the 90-minute Ancient Thermal Bath experience. These treatments include:
The Athlete Ritual: a treatment conceived to prepare the body for sports and physical activity, or to recover from it. Includes a 60-minute deep pressure massage incorporating eucalyptus gel and hot macadamia oil.
The Holistic Ritual: A 60-minute treatment including a full body exfoliation performed on warm marble and a 45-minute hydrating massage with green tea oil using the lomi-lomi Hawaiian technique.
The Olive Essence Ritual: A body treatment that includes an exfoliation with ground olive pits, a massage with olive essence oil, and a facial mask with ecologic extra virgin olive oil.
The Four Handed Experience: A 90-minute long ritual including a 30-minute full-body exfoliation and a full-body massage performed by two perfectly synchronized therapists.
The Wine Bath Experience: “The quintessential experience.” Includes a private red wine soak in a historical tub, and a red wine grape seed massage.
The Himalayan Salt Experience: A 90-minute ritual that includes a 30-minute body wrap with Himalayan salt crystals and a relaxing 60-minute body massage with hot Himalayan salt stones.
