Spas of America releases its list of the Top Spas of 2018

Spas of America recently released its list of the Top 100 Spas of 2018.

The spa and wellness travel website bases its annual ranking on unique page views of global spa and wellness travel consumers who visit Spas of America throughout the year.

This year’s Top 100 Spas includes 73 spas from the United States, including 14 in California, 17 spas in Canada, four in Mexico, and one each from the Bahamas, Brazil and Costa Rica. The No.1 spa for 2018 was the hiking and healthy-living focused New Life Hiking Spa in Killington, Vermont. This is the spa’s fifth time in the top spot.

New Life was followed by  Aspira Spa at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. And The Sunstone Spa at Agua Caliente, Rancho Mirage, California came in third in the USA.

The top spot in Canada was Grotto Spa at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort in Parksville, British Columbia, which placed ninth on the overall list. This was followed by The Spa at White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, which came in 10th place overall. The third top spa in Canada was Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain in Blue Mountains, Ontario.

Remède Spa, St. Regis in Mexico City was first in Mexico and 34th overall, followed by Espiritu Spa, at the Costa Baja Resort in La Paz in 40th place.

The most popular spas were city spas, offering health and well-being in urban destinations. Health spas offering a focus on fitness and weight loss were the second most popular spa experience of 2018.

“In 2018, we continued to see growth in the North American spa and wellness industry, with increased visits and revenue,” says Spas of America president Craig Oliver in a media release. “Spa and wellness consumers in the United States, Canada and Mexico understand wellness benefits their lives – by reducing stress, promoting relaxation and increasing well-being. Whether guests are traveling alone or in a group, spa and wellness travel offers people a chance to focus on what is most important – their own health and well-being.”
